worried
This snow has GOT to stop. Our adoption agency has been closed for a week straight, we have fingerprinting on Tuesday and it is supposed to snow 1-4 inches on Monday. I can't figure out for the life of me how to get ahold of the USCIS offices in Durham. I checked the forecast and it is snowing there Monday, too. What if the offics are closed and we drive 4 hrs. each way?? The 1-800 customer service number has no way to actually talk to a real live person, just recording after recording. I may lose my mind. I am worried sick about this. Our international agency may have their direct line in their offices, but have been snowed out. I am SO hopeful they will be back in the offices Monday, but another clipper storm is coming thru. Anyone have any ideas??? If we fail to show up for printing, our application is considered abandoned. I was supposed to send in the appointment notice to reschedule, but I had no idea the weather was going to do this. I "think" even if we get 4 inches on Monday, we can travel, but a) can our sitter still come? and b) how do I find out if their office is even open on Tuesday. Someone help!!!

- We are waiting to adopt our fourth child from the U.S.A. I am a momma to three other awesome children and wife to the love of my life. My boys are homegrown and my daughter is adopted from S. Korea . We cannot wait to meet our next baby!
First of all, I am totally with you on the whole snow thing.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I found at USCIS (hope the link works)
http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=93bafe46e6c3d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=52a46c854523d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD

Good luck!
thank you Sandra!!! I wonder if that is the same 1-800 number I have been calling? I will call it Monday. Maybe that number has a listing of offices closed?
ReplyDeleteIt is the same number, but that site you found I think would have the Durham office listed if it was closed. Monday I will just press every button that is an option until someone live picks up. I think it is so insane I can't get a live person on the line.
ReplyDeleteA lot of things about USCIS are insane.
ReplyDeleteOoops, did I just say that? LOL
Looks like you may have resolved it...
ReplyDeleteI was going to say to try to track down your SW via email or phone if you need to too. Also, if you can't make it, I'm sure they would have to understand. It's not like it's August and all the roads are clear...
SIGH.
Hey! I'm sorry! We do have some snow in this area, but not too much. The roads are clear here. I hope you will be able to get this way ok. Here is an email address for them if you want to email them just to see if they respond. I had to email them & they responded pretty quick.

Hope this helps!
I was going to say try emailing your social worker too - they may still be able to get email even if they aren't in the office. Also, I think that rescheduling shouldn't be a problem. The fed govt was shut down 4 days last week so I'm sure a lot of people couldn't make their appt...
